A Day in the Life....

Sitting here today, my mind is in a fog, I'm wishing I had time, to update our family blog....
I think about my days, and what keeps me so busy, then I think of our weekly schedule and now I feel so dizzy!

It starts on Monday morning, and not a child will get up, not one! ...everyone is too tired from the weekend full of fun. After a little battle and maybe a breakfast or two, the kids all leave for school and I hope no one forgets their shoe. Mom goes to work for a few hours, usually getting a call or two, looks like someone at the High School did forget his basketball shoe. After school on Monday the brother has ball, while the big sister is stuck at the Middle School hoping not to fall. Mom and little sisters run home to start cooking, while hurrying to do homework and clean while no one is looking.
Tuesday is the same, only adding one thing to the night... Young Women's and Young Men's for Daddy and two big kids, while the little ones shower and usually fight :) By now I've driven to three schools and back, so many times, my gas tank does lack....
Wednesday is big day, mom is usually stressed, we plan all day for the one thing we like best! Husky Basketball is today and after packing a bag of treats and a couple little toys, we get ready to cheer for AJ and all the Husky boys! Sometimes Shelby misses between dance and basketball, we run over to pick her up so she can catch a minute of the boys playing ball.

Thursday again is much of the same, the big kids staying after school and the girls thinking errands are lame. I've now driven to their schools so many times, I'm going to have to start saving my dimes. Sometimes on Thursday nights, we all sit at the table, to have dinner together as its the only night we are able. We quicky catch up with eachother and talk about the week, all the while mommy is starting to feel a little weak.

As Fridays roll around, mommy is getting tired, we have a Husky ball game tonight, so the girls are getting wired. We dress up in our green and pile in the car, to head out to the game, and hope its not too far. We sit with all our friends and cheer as loud as we can, we hope to pull out a win..I am for sure AJ's biggest fan.

I love my Saturdays and Sundays, as they are usually full of kids, the more kids hanging out here, the happier I am... I consider all of them part of my little fam! Treats and movies and games and dancing, texting and calling and dates and laughing. These kids are the best, I don't know what I'd do, if my weeks were boring and no one ever forgot their shoe :)

Skyley's Kindergarten "I Pledge Allegiance" program

Yesterday, Feb.6, 2009 Skyley's kindergarten class did a patriotic program. It was adorable. They sang songs (Yankee Doodle, Star Spangled Banner, God Bless the USA) and they each said little parts; Sky's part was "Each State has its own name, bird, song and flower." She practiced it for weeks and did a great job!!

During the last few weeks while they were doing the lessons on the USA, they were each assigned a president to do a little report on, basically finding 3 or 4 facts and presenting them to the class. Skyley had James Madison, so our research began... She found out that 1) His wife's name was Dolley, 2) he was the first president to wear pants, 3) He was president from 1809-1817 and 4) He helped write the Constitution. While we were practicing for her report I was asking her questions like.. His wife's name was?? and she'd reply "Dolley" - He was president from? - and while I was waiting for her to say 1809-1817, she thought for a second and said "from SEA to SHINING SEA" - It was the funniest and cutest moment.

Grandkids Pictures...

As the tradition goes, we did our annual grandkids pictures yesterday morning, there are always a few good stories to tell after the process, however, this year, it went great. Only a few tears (and it wasn't any of the mommies.)

Its Finally Next Week....

1st Day of Kindergarten.... Skyley has been waiting and waiting and waiting for school to start. She said the funniest thing last week. Last Sunday night, AJ, Shelby and Sydney were getting ready for school, setting out new clothes, getting backpacks ready and talking about how excited they were. Skyley asked when she was going to start, we all told her "next week." Monday and Tuesday were so hard for Sky, watching everyone go to school and come home talking about it, she kept asking when does she get to start school, again we all told her "next week." Tuesday night, I was running Shelby and Sydney to dance, when we got to the studio, they got out of the car, Skyley unbuckled and wanted to get out, too. I told her no, she doesn't have dance today, so she asked "when do I have dance?" I told her "next week." Well, she plopped back into her booster seat and said... "I HATE NEXT WEEK.." it was hilarious!!!

Well, next week is finally here... She started Kindergarten today!! What a sad day for Mommy, but such a happy day for Skyley. She is so big, did so great and loved it so much!!!

And to top the day off... The Silver Mesa Eagle mascot was there to welcome the Kindergartners.

Big 3rd Grader - First Day of School

Sydney was so excited to start school - she's excited to have Mrs. Brown and excited to be in 3rd Grade. I all of a sudden realized that she is so big, there is something different between 2nd graders and 3rd graders. She seems to have aged 10 years over the summer.

1/2 Day for Sevies...

Shelby & Bre had their half day at Union with out the 8th and 9th graders to meet their teachers, find their class rooms and practice their locker combinations. They had a blast, came straight home and started calling and texting their new friends, they hung out with new friends that night until 10:30 - I'm guessing I don't need to worry about Shelby liking Middle School ;)

So You Think You Can Dance!!!

What a great time Shelby and Sydney had yesterday as they both got to attend a 2 hour workshop with GEV.. from the top 10 of this year's "So You Think You Can Dance" competition. They had a blast - Shelby said the dance he taught was crazy hard and Sydney loved the warm up's he taught them.

BOYS WILL BE BOYS...

Kurt, AJ and Austin (as Sydney says "Our brother from another mother") had a blast riding our neighbors little pocket bike. AJ thinks it's going to be his first car ;) No such luck - if Mom has a say. Notice the "little" boys obeyed mom and wore a helmet and the "big" boy didn't.

St. George - Shelby Performs at Tuachan

Shelby had such a great experience last weekend. A few of the singing groups from her studio was invited to perform at the Tuachan "pre-show" that is out on the plaza before the Broadway shows start. What a fun time we had. We arrived on Thursday and checked into our hotel room, Shelby, Samantha and Cassie (with Me as a chaperon) stayed in one room. We got ready and headed to Tuachan for the first night of events, that night 2 of the groups performed and then we got to have a catered dinner and stay to watch Le Miserable - it was so good. (Except for all the BATS, the evening was wonderful.) Shelby and her Friends got to meet some of the cast afterwards and even ended up with a phone number... ;)

Friday morning started with a HIP HOP clinic at a dance studio in St. George. The kids had a blast!! They spent 2 hours learning a hip hop routine that they all absolutely love. We went from that back to the hotel for a pool party. I decided that with 4 girls wanting to get ready, this would be a good time to go shower and get ready for the evening.

Friday night, Shelby's group - Just Girlz got to perform - they did such a great job! Wow! The stage was great, the setting was beautiful and they all gave it 100% that night. It was so fun to see them draw such a crowd from the people coming to the Tuachan shows that night. I was so proud of them. They were certainly a HIT!! After their show, we went to the indoor theater to see the High School Musical play. It was a lot of fun and the girls again stayed to meet the cast.

Saturday morning, I had to leave early to head to a wedding in Manti, so I left Shelby and the girls asleep. They got up that morning for a vocal workshop back at Tuachan with some of the cast of Le Miz. They had an amazing time, learned so much and will never forget the time they had together and the experiences that got to have.
